Lab of Ornithology Visitor Center Study Cornell University Ithaca, NY

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology maintains the world’s largest collection of electronic data on birds (over 13,000,000 items) and an extensive collection of original artwork about birds. The Visitor Center, constructed in 2003, attracts bird novices and experts from around the world. The facility and site offers four miles of trails for exploring birds in their natural habitats, a sound studio, theater, observatory and sound ring.

The Study will develop exhibit design concepts and provide the technical and cost information to fully integrate these ideas within the existing facility and site to improve the overall visitor experience.

The Study will include recommendations for the redesign of current exhibits and impacted spaces within the Visitor Center and identify the changes necessary to the floor plans, mechanical, electrical, structural, accessibility, IT, AV, to integrate exhibits while maintaining life safety, code, and ADA compliance.
