Appel Commons Dining Renovation Cornell University Ithaca, NY
Northstar Dining is located in Appel Commons and is part of the Cornell Dining system which is nationally recognized for quality and service. Appel Commons was constructed in 2000 and serves over three thousand meals on a typical day. This 14,700sf project includes the relocation and re-creation of all food service stations, including the replacement of all serving-line equipment. It includes all new floor and ceiling finishes, and all new lighting. It also includes selective replacement of the dining furniture. The new layout improves the breadth of food offerings, including more plant-forward options. It improves access and flow around the serving stations. It improves the aesthetics of the service stations for a clean, modern, and stream-lined appearance, and it increases the seating capacity.
